Chapter 66: The Unfathomable Heart of a Man
After changing clothes and sanitizing her hands several times, Abigail finally took Teddy into her arms.
“Feed him quickly,” Kelly urged. The little one didn’t eat much from her.
Abigail nodded, turned around, and let Kelly watch the door while she nursed the baby.
The little one ate his fill and played until after ten before falling back asleep. Abigail watched the baby’s peaceful sleeping face and exhaled deeply, her tense heart softened slightly.
But when she recalled the afternoon’s encounter, her expression grew serious again.
Clark Stone wouldn’t let it go easily.
She didn’t understand how this person was so different from Abigail Green’s memories, but she was clear that the man she met today was the real Clark Stone.
It explained why the original Abigail secretly loved him for years but never got together with him.
Because Clark Stone looked down on Abigail Green.
All the gentleness, elegance, and politeness were just her fantasies.
But why would such a hypocrite suddenly show kindness to Abigail Green?
Clark never took the initiative to contact her while she was alive. He even knew she planned to sacrifice herself to him a year ago but never went through with it. Now, a year later, he’s coming to her.
When something unusual happens, there must be a reason.
Especially since Clark Stone was both gentle and forceful tonight. He even set up tiny cameras in the hotel room?
If he wanted to form an alliance through marriage, why damage her reputation? It seemed like Ruby Green’s style.
Thinking of this, Abigail smirked. It looked like the mother and daughter hadn’t settled down.
Were their legs still not hurting enough?
Why did Brandon Piers show up at the hotel today?
Knock, knock, knock…
As Abigail was thinking, she heard a rhythmic but restrained knocking on the door outside.
Speak of the devil.
Abigail glanced down at the baby beside her, carefully got up, and opened the door.
“Kelly is next door and hasn’t fallen asleep. What are you doing here?” Abigail hesitated as she spoke, feeling her words sounded strange.
Too much like a clandestine affair.
Brandon ignored Abigail, stepped inside, and pointed to the medical kit not far away. “Change the dressing.”
After yesterday’s commotion, Brandon’s wound hadn’t been redressed.
Abigail looked at him strangely, silently grabbed the medical kit, then skillfully lifted Brandon’s shirt to change his dressing.
The man remained silent throughout.
Abigail had questions, but seeing Brandon’s handsome, cold face, she lost interest. She didn’t want to guess the thoughts of this rich family’s playboy.
The mood of the rich playboy, Brandon, worsened.
Master Brandon, in a very foul mood, wore an even colder expression, making Abigail feel the air temperature around them was dropping.
“Do you like him?” Finally, his pink thin lips moved, with a hint of lazy indifference.
Abigail didn’t react for a moment. Only when she met the coldness in his amber eyes did she understand Brandon was asking about Clark Stone. She shook her head.
“Did you like him before?” Brandon didn’t know why he cared about the love life of a fat girl. But when he asked, a familiar irritability surged within him. Why did he even care?
“Kinda.” Abigail didn’t notice anything unusual and answered seriously after a moment’s thought.
She hadn’t liked him, but her original self did.
Now that she was reincarnated into the original body, it should count as liking before.
“Blind.” The single word from his lips was powerful.
Not wanting to offend this capricious beauty, Abigail nodded. “You’re right.”
Brandon felt dismissed with that one line.
No one had ever dared to dismiss him this way!
